Today, as the title says, I will introduce three-layer fabric.
It is a high-performance material made by bonding together three layers: the face fabric, an intermediate layer (special materials such as film), and the lining.
Thanks to the special film in the middle layer, the fabric is waterproof while still allowing moisture to pass through, so it helps keep the inside of the garment from getting stuffy. It is a material that combines the seemingly contradictory functions of keeping water out while reducing stuffiness.
It is mainly used for outdoor wear, but due to its functionality, it also seems to be increasingly used for town wear.
There are also two-layer and 2.5-layer fabrics, but while fewer layers mean the fabric is lighter, the exposed special film makes the film more prone to showing signs of age on the reverse side of the fabric, which can lead to discomfort when worn.
*This is a special fabric, and needle holes generally remain, so the number of factories that can sew it is limited. At the product planning stage, it is necessary to confirm with the sewing factory and secure a factory that can sew it.

Three-layer fabrics are especially well known for foreign brands such as Gore-Tex, but in Japan there are also manufacturers and converters handling other three-layer fabrics, and it is possible to make samples through cut-length purchases.
