Continuing from last time, we would like to introduce functional materials that will help you spend your summer comfortably.
This time it's Coolmax®.
It is a functional material developed by DuPont in 1986 and currently owned by Lycra, which was acquired by China's Shandong Ruyi Science and Technology Group.
I think I've seen Coolmax® hang tags on men's clothing for quite some time, but I didn't know that it has a history of over a quarter of a century.
The biggest feature is the cross section of the fiber. The thread cross section has a special shape (grooved shape).
This cross-sectional shape causes capillary action.
Capillary action is a phenomenon in which when a very thin tube is placed in a liquid, the liquid level inside the tube becomes higher (lower) than the liquid level outside the tube.
Now that we're talking about science,...the fine grooves in Coolmax® fibers act as capillaries and efficiently absorb sweat from your skin.
The absorbed sweat then evaporates on the surface of the textile.
COOLMAX® keeps the inside of the textile cool due to the heat of evaporation when this sweat evaporates and its excellent breathability.
