I'm Cho from the ApparelX trend blog.

This time, we’d like to introduce the 2026 trend textiles from KOYAMA, a Shizuoka-based company that develops woven fabrics centered on natural fibers.

*What is Koyama?

Koyama Co., Ltd. is a Japanese textile manufacturer headquartered in Shizuoka Prefecture, and its strength lies in planning and producing textiles mainly made from natural materials.

It is especially known for its textile lineup that makes use of natural materials such as cotton, linen, hemp, and washi blends.

Fabric characteristics

Koyama’s textiles are generally characterized by a:

  • natural
  • vintage
  • Wash Finish feel
  • dry touch
  • expressive colors
  • wrinkled texture and processed look

such atmosphere.

We received information from Koyama about its 2026 trend textiles, so we’d like to introduce them!

*2026 Trend Textiles

HK1145BW

① Specs: 108cm x 25m roll

② Industry weight: 152gsm

③ Material: 100% cotton

This textile features a design inspired by sashiko, using differences in yarn thickness,

and is characterized by the use of sumi ink, which gives it a distinctive color with a misty, deep look.

It has been processed by washing the entire roll in a large machine like a washing machine, creating random wrinkles, fading, and a soft texture across the fabric.

It seems especially well suited to simple designs, but because it emphasizes atmosphere, its uneven appearance is also one of its defining charms and part of the textile’s character.

HK2986GW

① Specs: 114cm x 25m roll

② Industry weight: 205gsm

③ Material: 100% cotton

Because it uses thick yarn, it has body and a grid-like weave pattern. It is a cotton ripstop dyed with pigment.

Through washing, you can enjoy how it changes over time.

Its vintage feel is distinctive, with calm, subdued colors as the main palette.

We recommend using it for items such as jackets and pants.

RN5054

① Specs: 124/126cm x 25m roll

② Industry weight: 80gsm

③ Material: 100% cotton

This textile is made by twisting together two very fine yarns into one, then singeing the yarn with gas to clean it, and increasing the twist count to emphasize a dry texture.

By packing the fabric into a tubular machine for yarn dyeing, bold wrinkles are applied across the entire textile.

Because it is so lightweight that it is almost sheer overall, it can create a unique appeal not only for sheer garments but also for designs with multiple layers of fabric.

RN5061

① Specs: 110cm x 25m roll

② Industry weight: 140gsm

③ Material: 75% linen, 25% washi

Linen is used for the warp, and linen and washi yarns are alternated for the weft.

Each has a dry texture, and this is a lightweight textile with a slightly sheer appearance.

Within a single roll, wrinkles may appear randomly in varying amounts and strengths—some large, some small, some many, some few, some strong, some subtle—but that unevenness is precisely what makes this textile unique and gives it a more natural, flavorful atmosphere.

RN8025

① Specs: 110cm x 25m roll

② Industry weight: 113gsm

③ Material: 54% linen, 36% cotton, 10% wool

This is a lightweight textile using linen for the warp and cotton and yak (wool) for the weft.

Yak wool has luster, moisture retention, and softness, and is a material highly compatible with cotton and linen.

     *What is yak?

:Yak is a premium natural fiber obtained from animals that live in cold regions, and it is characterized by its soft texture and excellent warmth retention.

Its natural sheen and uniquely deep color tone are also part of its appeal.

This textile is characterized by a melange-like, deep look.

*Side note

Over the past six months or so, we looked into KOYAMA textiles that were especially popular with global brands.

Among them were RN8010, which has been treated with plat air processing,

GW7040, which was first pigment-coated on one side and then given a raw-roll Wash Finish,

and RN4001, which achieves an extremely soft texture with reduced fuzz through a special enzyme treatment.

*Summary

What did you think?

Thank you for reading to the end.

We hope this blog will be helpful when you are looking for textiles.
