Hello, this is Dong from Okura Shoji.
The Lunar New Year holiday will begin across China from 2021/02/11. In China and other Asian regions such as Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, and Vietnam, the celebration of the Lunar New Year, known as "Lunar New Year (Spring Festival)," is especially grand. a0
In the textile and apparel industry, the Spring Festival holiday usually starts two weeks before the festival, and production in China almost comes to a halt for about a month before and after the Lunar New Year. This is basically the same timing as the start of China’s "chunyun" travel season. However, due to the impact of COVID-19 in 2020, there is a large amount of 20SS apparel inventory left over, and if new 21SS orders are placed before the Spring Festival, the 20SS inventory cannot be cleared and stock will only increase. So many sewing factories and others brought the holiday forward this year.
On the other hand, depending on the region, returning home means two weeks of hotel quarantine, so although many people usually return home for the holidays, the government is urging people to refrain from travel to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Some apparel factories do not close during the Spring Festival period. However, since most delivery companies are closed during the Spring Festival period, shipments cannot be made even if goods are finished.
Every year as the Spring Festival approaches, a rush occurs in China as people working in other provinces return home. Almost all transportation systems become extremely crowded and packed with people. This phenomenon is called "chunyun."
There is a rumor that wearing red clothes during the Spring Festival will bring good luck in the coming year, so many people wear red clothes or carry red accessories during the Spring Festival.
As for me, I do not wear red clothes now, but I did quite a lot as a child. My grandmother used to be a tailor, so before I was 10, she made Spring Festival clothes for me every year.

These are called "Tangzhuang," made with silk and Chinese buttons.
Finally, Happy New Year.
