Hello.

This is Ozaki from the ApparelX trend blog.

Today, we’d like to introduce the fabric maker Chambrey.
The ApparelX maker page is here.

The other day, members of Chambrey’s staff visited our office, and we held a study session about their products.

We’d like to introduce them, including what we heard at that time.

In this blog, we will introduce Chambrey’s company profile and products for those in the apparel business who are looking for yarn dyed textiles, shirt textiles, and more.

What is Chambrey?

Chambrey Co., Ltd. is a fabric maker established in Ryogoku, Tokyo in 1984.

It is currently headquartered in Nihonbashi.

It mainly handles woven textiles for light apparel such as shirts and blouses.

Its particular specialty is yarn dyed shirt textiles. Using extensive experience, knowledge, information, and archives from around the world, the company develops original check and stripe patterns.

With warehouses in Japan and overseas, it is a manufacturer that sells a wide variety of carefully selected textiles from stock.

Three Fabric Brands

Chambrey handles many textiles, and among them there are three fabric brands.

THE STATES MADE®

The first is THE STATES MADE®.

This series analyzes and recreates shirts and other items produced in the United States during the 1980s and 1990s.

This analysis is very detailed, using modern technology to examine everything from yarn thickness and shape to the number of picks.

According to the staff member we spoke with, shirts made in the U.S. at that time differ from modern Japanese specifications even in the number of picks, and they develop highly detailed textiles that reproduce even such fine points.

Not only shirts, but also the textile analyzed from 1990s American seersucker pants reproduces even the material and structure of the ridged parts, which shows how meticulous this series is.

Personally, I was impressed by the planning ability to analyze and recreate such history and background in such detail.

REFABRISH®

REFABRISH® is a coined word combining Refurbish, meaning to renew or polish up again, and Fabric.

This series uses recycled polyester as a raw material, making it an environmentally friendly material.

But it is not simply using recycled materials; by developing yarn with attention to the ratio of recycled polyester and cotton, it brings out the strengths of both, resulting in a series full of textile appeal.

It also includes trendy check and stripe materials unique to Chambrey, making this a recommended series that balances environmental responsibility and design appeal.

Orgamix™

Orgamix™ is a series made by spinning 100% organic cotton top-dyed yarn in nuanced colors.

Its defining feature is the softness unique to top-dyed yarn, and every textile has an attractive natural color tone.

It also meets GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certification, making it a sustainable material that also takes into account environmental impact and farmers’ labor.

We actually touched the textile, and it felt very soft with a gentle texture.

It has characteristics different from the other series, and it is another series where you can feel Chambrey’s dedication.

ApparelX Recommended Products

1SG014 1990 Single-Ply Yarn American Cotton Twill

The standard material among the THE STATES MADE series mentioned above.

This textile was analyzed and recreated from shirts produced in the United States in the 1980s and 1990s.

It uses American cotton and has a distinctive dry texture. Because it is a slightly heavier twill, it can be used for a wide range of applications, not only shirts but also jackets and more.

1SG019
American Cotton Seersucker

1SG019 American Cotton Seersucker

This is also a textile analyzed and recreated from seersucker pants produced in the United States in the 1990s.

Not only does it recreate yarn thickness and pick count, but it also faithfully reproduces the material and weave of the ridged sections, making it a carefully crafted material.

It also comes in a wide variety of colors, and it’s exciting to think you could recreate items from that era in many different colors.

1SG017 Cotton Recycled Polyester Lawn

A textile made using yarn developed from cotton sourced through the Better Cotton Initiative and recycled polyester derived from plastic bottles.

Rather than simply mixing the materials, it was developed with careful attention to the material ratio so that it would become a light, quick-drying textile.

It is also less prone to wrinkling and easy to care for, making it a standard material for shirts and blouses.

4SG023 Recycled Polyester Ombre Plaid

This is a textile made using yarn that blends recycled polyester and rayon.

When we actually touched it, the use of rayon gave it a soft, smooth texture, making it a material different from cotton blends.

Of course, its appeal is not limited to the material feel; the original check pattern is also attractive.

Ombre checks are strongly associated with youth culture such as bands and skaters, but this one has relatively subdued colors and seems like it could be used to create elegant items.

1SG031 Organic Cotton Light Denim

A textile made using organic cotton top-dyed yarn in original colors.

By making it a melange color, it expresses the fading of denim.

At first glance it looks like light denim, but when you touch it, it feels very soft and comfortable to wear, giving it an appeal different from denim.

Not only the light denim color, but also the brown and gray versions have a nice atmosphere and are recommended.
