Waterproof, antibacterial, highly durable! What makes interior materials specialist Shinko Co., Ltd. appealing for apparel applications too?

Hello! This is Kimura from the Trend Blog.

Shinko Co., Ltd. is known as a specialist trading company for interior materials that add color to spaces.

Did you know that it is also a reliable partner for the apparel industry?

This time, we’ll introduce Shinko Co., Ltd., which has just started being carried on ApparelX, as well as recommended materials for apparel applications.

🏢 What kind of company is Shinko Co., Ltd.?

Shinko Co., Ltd. is a company with both general trading company and manufacturing functions for interior materials, headquartered in Osaka Prefecture.

Starting out as a leather wholesaler in 1930, it now handles a wide range of interior materials, including wallpaper, curtains, flooring, upholstery textile, synthetic leather, felt, and insulation materials.

Through its Shincol brand products, it has over 90 years of experience as a professional group supporting space creation in homes, commercial facilities, medical institutions, educational facilities, and public spaces.

What is "Shincol"?
Shincol is the brand name developed by the Shinko Group, offering a wide range of products from wallpaper to upholstery and flooring.
It is positioned as a key pillar for strengthening the brand power and standardizing the quality of interior products, and is widely recognized in the B2B market.

🦾 What are Shinko’s strengths?

・ Reliable quality and safety

With antibacterial, flame-retardant, stain-resistant, alcohol-resistant, and sodium hypochlorite-resistant options, there is a wide selection of high-performance materials designed with the safety of spaces and people in mind. These are products used in medical and nursing care facilities, so they are ideal for apparel applications where safety is required.

・ Nationwide support & extensive showrooms

With branches and showrooms across Japan, centered in Osaka, there is an environment where you can select materials while seeing the actual products.

👕 What materials are recommended for apparel use?

Shinko’s materials are excellent not only for interior use, but also as secondary materials for apparel accessories and garments. Here are some recommended materials.

● Synthetic leather (PVC / PU leather)

Ideal for bags, pouches, belts, patches, and more. It combines water resistance, durability, and flexibility.

With a lineup of various colors and textures, it is perfect as an accent material for collections.

PLEASANT プレザント

Since it is intended for home interiors, this is a standard vinyl leather with a wide width of 137 cm and excellent cost performance.

With 46 colors in total, it offers a rich color range and can handle everything from casual to chic styles. All colors have been upgraded to be sodium hypochlorite-resistant.

Because it is treated for antibacterial properties, alcohol resistance, and sodium hypochlorite resistance*, it can be used with confidence for kids’ apparel.

Sodium hypochlorite resistance*
This refers to a function that prevents discoloration caused by disinfection with a sodium hypochlorite solution. Sodium hypochlorite is the main ingredient in chlorine bleach and is used in medical institutions, nursing care facilities, homes, and other settings where disinfection is needed to prevent infection. Materials with sodium hypochlorite resistance are less likely to discolor even when immersed in a sodium hypochlorite solution.

DUKE デューク

DUKE デューク[textile] シンコー

This PVC has an antique leather look, finished with unique character through uneven coloration and a pronounced deep embossed texture.

It seems versatile enough for partial use on bags and apparel items.

● Melton / tweed

A thick material that is easy to use for outerwear, hats, patches, and more. It has a natural texture and a premium feel, making it a great choice for autumn/winter collection materials.

TRENTO トレント

This wool/nylon melton is woven in plain weave using soft spun yarn and then shrink-finished.

With a moderate thickness, it is also recommended for light outerwear and traditional-style sets.

BELINI ベリーニ

This tweed material uses acrylic thread with excellent color development. It is an Eco-Tex® certified product, meeting international safety standards.

Rich color variations

● Fuzzy / flannel materials

Soft to the touch and warm. Popular for linings, accessories, and miscellaneous goods. A series with hygiene-conscious features such as antibacterial and alcohol resistance is also available.

DECLAREⅡ デクレアⅡ

With a compact pile, this material has a clean fuzzy texture that makes it easy to use in any season.

Its warm coloring without being too thick should be especially useful for early autumn items, when summer tends to linger.

MOFU モフ

This is a crimp knit textile that has an easy-to-use soft texture while also offering the strength to withstand frequent use in contracts.

With abrasion resistance and washable functionality, it should be in demand for washable kids’ outerwear and more.

● Double raschel (knit mesh)

Excellent breathability and cushioning make it recommended for functional apparel items.

THELMA セルマ

A W raschel with a breathable mesh structure.

With its volume and cushioning, it is ideal for backpack back pads, caps, and baby products.

Summary

What did you think? We introduced Shinko Co., Ltd. and some recommended products.

It may still be unfamiliar in the apparel industry, but I hope the idea that “interior materials = materials that can also be used for apparel” becomes more widely understood.

If, in your planning, you are looking for textures a little different from the usual or unique materials, exploring the world of interior materials may lead to new discoveries.
