A roundup of traditional wedding dresses from various countries

In October, my younger sister had her wedding in China, so I returned home to attend her wedding.

In China, it is common to wear a Western-style wedding dress for marriage ceremonies.

However, this time my sister chose a traditional Chinese outfit for her wedding.

Since I live in Japan, when the wedding came up, family and friends asked me what people wear at Japanese weddings.

I have never attended a wedding in Japan, but I have seen traditional Japanese weddings in dramas.

As a foreigner, I felt that traditional Japanese wedding attire is very beautiful and gorgeous.

Because of that, I became interested in the traditional wedding attire of other countries as well and did some research.

In this blog, I will share traditional wedding attire from several Asian countries.

Japan: Wafuku, known as traditional attire for Japanese weddings. There are various types of wafuku, including shiromuku.

China: Traditional Chinese wedding attire is known for its rich colors and designs, and the red qipao in particular symbolizes joy and prosperity. 

Korea: Traditional Korean wedding attire includes hanbok, and the bride is adorned with traditional hairpins. 

Vietnam: Vietnamese brides wear a traditional dress called an ao dai, characterized by beautiful embroidery and design. 

Thailand: Traditional Thai wedding attire includes a golden traditional wedding costume, characterized by beautiful designs and colors. 

Mongolia: Traditional Mongolian wedding attire is decorative, and brides wear luxurious jewelry.
