Today we’d like to introduce fabric manufacturers, focusing mainly on companies handling women’s wear, men’s wear, and bags. The fabrics handled by each company are all different, each with its own character. You might think one company can do everything, but because each has its own distinct strengths, I believe they can be very reliable partners for specific projects.
Women’s Wear Series
Classifying things by gender, such as men and women, may already be outdated.
But here we’d like to introduce companies that often handle fabrics used for women’s casual wear, dresses, and the like, such as fabric materials and weaves.
Uni Textile

Location: 13F, Sun Marion Tower, 2-6-12 Minami-Honmachi, Chuo-ku, Osaka City
Sales: 7.47 billion yen
Uni Textile handles a variety of floral patterns, laces, de cins, tulle, and more by product number and color. We firmly incorporate trendy colors into fabrics and release new colors every year. In addition, amid last year’s corona situation, we are making items that suit stay-at-home trends, such as relaxed materials (stretch and drape). We handle both woven fabrics and knits, so this is a must-see for brands that work with women’s wear.
We also handle pleats, so why not give us a try?
Suncorona Oda

Location: 2-1-6 Honmachi, Chuo-ku, Osaka City
Sales: 13.6 billion yen
We also handle interior fabrics, but in apparel we mainly deal in organza. I think the amount of organza handled and the number of products are the highest in Japan. In addition to organza, we also have sheer materials such as tulle. Recently, the dress worn by MISIA at the opening ceremony of the 2021 Tokyo Olympics used Suncorona Oda fabric.
Sheer materials are now used in all kinds of items, such as dresses, formalwear, and casual wear. I might use it! Please check it out.
Men’s Wear Series
Introducing fabric manufacturers that handle fabrics with a certain thickness. The basis weight is also heavy, so you could say they handle a wide variety of men’s fabrics.
Cosmo Texitile

Location: 4-2-15 Bakurocho, Chuo-ku, Osaka City
Sales: 3.3 billion yen (FY2019)
When you think of Cosmo Textiles, you may think of fancy floral fabrics sold at retail craft stores. However, Cosmo Textiles is divided into a craft fabric section and an apparel section, handling completely different fabrics.
In apparel fabrics, we focus on solid fabrics centered on natural materials for outerwear and bottoms. Personally, when asked about bottoms and outerwear fabrics, I often introduce men’s casual wear. Also, in the showroom, large swatches are hung on hangers and displayed like clothing, so you can check the drape and other qualities; I think the gap between the sample book and the finished product image is very small. Please make sure to check out the brands that appear in men’s outerwear and bottoms.
Styletex

Sales: Not disclosed
Styletex is a fabric manufacturer that mainly handles coat fabrics and has its own weaving and dyeing mills. We also sell outerwear made with our own fabrics. Although it was founded in 2012 and is relatively new, it has a strong presence. While we have a small number of standard fabrics, the fabrics we produce are high-density fabrics that you won’t find anywhere else. Since the unit prices are also high, it can be said to be fabrics used by brands with unit prices of over 100,000 yen. It also has valuable texture and functionality (water resistance). Of course, because we have our own factory, custom orders are possible, although they require a lot. It is a recommended fabric manufacturer for brands that want to make solid-colored coats.
Bag Category
The boundary between bags and apparel is becoming blurred, but bag fabrics are thicker and more water-resistant and waterproof. On the downside, bags usually place less emphasis on firmness, so the prices are generally low. However, when making bags as single items or novelty products, they can be a strong partner.
SENDA

Location: 1-1-1 Kotobuki, Taito-ku, Tokyo
Sales: 2.3 billion yen (FY2013)
SENDA handles a wide variety of bag-related fabrics. There are many variations in both outer and lining materials. In addition, because it can do processing such as PVC processing and back bonding, waterproof-grade fabrics can be arranged for everyday use as a one-stop service. Also, because the fabrics are thick, wrinkles cannot be removed when folded, so even 1 m cuts are wrapped in paper tubes for delivery. Sustainable materials are also unique, including fabrics naturally dyed using onion skins.
Although there is no genuine leather, it is a reassuring ally for brands making other bags and miscellaneous goods.
Fujikinbai

Fuji Kinbai, a canvas brand operated by Kawashima Shouji, mainly handles canvas and bag fabrics. Recently, due to the popularity of outdoor activities, tarpaulin seems to be used for tents. Although canvas looks like a thick fabric, we handle a wide range of functional fabrics such as waterproof, anti-static, and antiviral. Some of the fabrics are very stiff, so you can find the perfect fabric for making tote bags.
If you want to make a bag out of canvas, you should first check out Fuji Kinbai.
