"The tatami border" means Originally, tatami-beri is a strip of fabric used on the edge of tatami mats, and it serves to protect the tatami and improve durability. At first, many were plain cotton and practicality was emphasized, but over time they evolved, changing greatly from "solid patterns to decorative borders (pattern designs)" and from "cotton to synthetic fibers." As time has passed, technology has advanced as well, and today new decorative borders have emerged using vividly colored threads made from synthetic fibers. "Tatami border," a rare textile unlike anything else in the world, inherits Japan's unique culture, and in recent years it has attracted attention as a handmade material, used for many items such as original bags, wallets, and ties.
Features of "Tatami edge" in handmade ① Easy to handle ... Unlike cloth, the cut surface is heat-treated, so there is no need to clean up the edges. (2) Can be manufactured with a normal sewing machine ... Can be manufactured with a household sewing machine, No. 14 needle, and straight stitch. ③ Light and durable: Since it has little elasticity, there is no need to worry about losing its shape or stretching without using interlining.
Tassel finishing is possible using cords. It can be done simply by untying the cord, or by attaching a separate thin cord to the cord end. Since this is manual processing, a separate quote is required. Please contact us via the support page for details.

What materials can be heat cut?
For synthetic fibers (polyester, nylon, acrylic, polypropylene, etc.), heat cutting is possible. For natural fibers (cotton, linen, silk, etc.), heat cutting cannot be used because they will burn or char, so only scissors cutting is possible. Even with synthetic fibers, extra-thick twist cord may not fuse properly, so please be careful.

Is it possible to specify an angled cut edge for heat cutting?
Angled cutting is possible, but since it is done by hand, there may be a deviation of a few degrees. Please specify 45° diagonally, etc. when placing your order.
What do 7×7 mm and 9×9 mm mean in the width notation for binder tape and knit tape?
This width specification has a groove in the center and is used by sandwiching fabric, etc. In the case of 7×7 mm, it becomes 7 mm when folded in half.
Is it possible to have tape or cord cut one by one to the specified length?
Yes, that is possible. Please select either scissor cutting or heat cutting from the options on each product page and enter the quantity. Please write your desired length in the notes section at that time. Since cutting always results in some cutting loss, if the number of cuts is large, it may not be possible to cut all of them from the number of rolls you ordered. In that case, our order staff will contact you to confirm whether to cut as much as possible from the number of rolls ordered or to add more quantity.
