Pongee is an inexpensive plain-woven fabric made with polyester false-twist yarns of 75D (denier) thickness in both warp and weft. It has a moderate fullness and an appearance and feel similar to spun-fiber fabrics (the false-twist yarn itself is a filament yarn). In addition to apparel materials, it is used in a very wide range of products for miscellaneous applications such as convenience store and supermarket banner flags and base fabric for inkjet printing.

It is often used for uniform suits and washable suits that require durability. Because it is polyester pocket lining, it is thin and durable, and can withstand washing. It is also processed as waistband interlining, so when making slacks, 665 Raschel waistband interlining is also recommended.
