Founded in 1912. In 1931, it switched from linen and cotton to wool fabrics, and even today it continues to pass down low-tech techniques from generation to generation, remaining one of Japan’s leading textile manufacturers that keeps producing valuable Bishu-traditional products. Since the early Showa period, it has introduced and continued to use shuttle looms; today, when high-speed looms such as air-jet looms are widespread, these looms are no longer manufactured and only a small number remain in operation, making them a machine once called a masterpiece.
