Founded in 1947 in Brianza, Como, Italy, Vincenzo Rovagnati takes its name from its founder.
Initially, the company produced horsehair cushioning to protect cargo transported by rail. Later, shuttle looms were introduced and the company began producing basic haircloth interlining using horsetail hair, mohair, sheep's wool, viscose and other raw materials. The factory continued to invest in new equipment, eventually taking over the spinning and warping functions in-house and introducing rapier looms. The factory continued to expand, and by the end of 2000, it had doubled its production capacity and was also producing haircloth interlining.
