The material has a vintage feel and is made from linen and Ramie.
Both the warp and weft threads are made from American and European cotton, spun in Japan, woven in Niigata, and dyed using the Kiri Nana-taki dyeing method.
We use an old-fashioned rapier loom made by a weaver in Niigata, and by changing the rotation speed from high to slow, the thread bends more, resulting in a soft, fluffy textile.

Kiryu is located in the eastern end of Gunma prefecture in the northern part of the Kanto plain, on the border with Tochigi prefecture. It is the home of seven textile techniques and traditional crafts.
We were founded in this place over 100 years ago, dedicated solely to dyeing.
Initially, we were involved in the final processes of de-starching and steaming kimono obi fabric, and have continued to use our knowledge and techniques of dyeing and color, coexisting and prospering alongside the good old days.
Kirinanataki was born from a dyeing method that conveys the skills, techniques, passion and passion of artisans handed down from generation to generation.
